WHS Publications Staff Wins Big at State Level!

Over the weekend, the 2015 yearbook and 2016 newspaper state results were announced during the 89th annual ILPC Convention in Austin.  This is the state championship for high school publications. In Class-5A the “Paw Prints” Newspaper earned 2 state champion titles for Omama Qureshi’s cartoon and a combination of 5 headlines.  Omama’s Cartoon from issue 4 was named the overall winner for class 1A-6A, crowning her "Tops In Texas", the highest honor for a high school journalist.  Four silver medals, 4 bronze medals and 16 - 4th and 5th place awards were also awarded to the Paw Prints Staff.

The high school yearbook, “Wildcat” brought home 4 State Champion Titles for photography and page design.  State champions are Sarah Hyland, Sloan Coffey, Kaitlyn Killian and graduate Mallory Hancock.  In addition 5 silver and 5 bronze medals were awarded to the staff.

The high school publications advisor is Paige Dyer.
