AP Physics Program at WHS

AP Physics are College Board certified courses taught at Whitehouse High School. The AP Program offers four physics courses: AP Physics 1: Algebra based, AP Physics 2: Algebra-based, AP Physics C: Mechanics, and AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism. Each of these courses are offered.

 
AP Physics 1: Algebra-based and AP Physics 2: Algebra-based are the equivalent of the first and second semesters of introductory, algebra-based college courses. AP Year 1 is taken during the junior year, and AP Physics Year 2 is taken the senior year.
 
AP Physics C: Mechanics and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism each corresponds to one semester of an introductory, calculus-based college course.Student take this course their senior year following AP Physics Year 1. Students must have completed Calculus or be co-enrolled in the course.

About Mrs. Hood

Mrs. Hood has been teaching for over 20 years. She has taught biology, chemistry, physics, and remedial science classes. The past 10 years she has specialized in teaching AP Physics. 
 
Mrs Hood received her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University. She received her master's degree in Science Education from Texas A&M University in 2007. Also in 2007, she was named the Tyler ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. 
 
Mrs. Hood has been married for over 20 years. She is the mother of Trent (WHS class of 2014) and Beth (WHS class of 2016). Mrs. Hood is the past President of the Whitehouse Athletic Booster Club and does consulting work for the College Board and the National Math and Science Initiative. Mrs. Hood enjoys working in her garden and traveling.
