The breakfast and lunch meals in the Whitehouse ISD are designed to provide nutritious meals for growing children. Breakfast is available at all schools, offering a variety of cold and hot selections everyday. Breakfast is planned to provide one-fourth of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for Children. Lunch is planned to provide one-third of the RDA. Cycle menus are utilized in the District; however, you may find the campus menu posted on the school website. The School Nutrition Department strives to offer meals that are “child friendly” while offering choices that are low in fat, sugar and sodium.

All campuses are equipped with computerized point-of-sales stations where students enter an assigned PIN number. Each time a customer makes a purchase it is recorded in the system and is automatically deducted from the account balance. Parents are encouraged to prepay for their student’s meals or beverage. Pre-payments should include the students name, grade and school name to insure proper credit. Cash or checks are accepted. Copies of the account history may be obtained from the Campus Cafeteria Manager. Parents are responsible for all charges on their student’s account.

The District serving method has been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture, designed to reduce food waste and food cost without jeopardizing the nutritional integrity of the meals served. The student may choose to not take an item he or she does not intend to consume. The student must take a minimum of 3 items, one of which must be an entree in order for the meal to be counted. Any meal with fewer than 3 components will be charged Ala Carte pricing and will not qualify as a reimbursable meal for students receiving free or reduced price meals.

Free and reduced price meals are available to students whose family income meets certain criteria. If you think you might qualify, an application must be completed for the family. Free and Reduced Priced Meal Applications will be available to each student during the first week of school. If your financial changes at any time during the year you may obtain an application in the School office or the School Nutrition Department at 1112 Wildcat Drive. Whitehouse, Texas.
