BROWN ELEMENTARY FAMILY NIGHT FIELD DAY

Family dodgeball, Simon Says, hippety-hop races, tug-of-war, and line dancing were just a few of the fun activities that families participated in during Brown Elementary School’s first ever Family Night Field Day last Thursday evening, May 10, 2012.

Each of our grade levels took the chance to show off their dancing skills by performing one of our PE cardio dances learned this year. Coach Marshall, a master at the game of Simon Says, led our families through some twists and turns that got the better of most.

The gym came alive with excitement while many of our parents relived childhood memories with their children in a good old-fashioned game of dodge ball. In addition, our outside field was the place to be with kids of all ages and sizes participating in our field day events like tug-of-war, sack races, and javelin throw. ETMC was on hand to assess fitness levels from the young to the old.

Moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins, thank you for your support and participation in a great evening! Hope to see you next year!

STANTON-SMITH ROUND UP SILENT AUCTION

Stanton-Smith PTO representatives held a Round-Up Silent Auction Friday, April 27, 2012. The Round-Up had many fun activities for students as well as parents and offered a large variety of items to "bid" on. All winning bids went to the PTO as a fundraising contribution. The Kiss the Pig competition drew many of the students and their families to the school Friday evening. Each class collected as many pennies as possible for a chance to see their teacher pucker up to kiss Wilber, the 300 lb. pig. Mrs. Crow (first grade teacher), and Mrs. Halford (fifth grade teacher), whose classes collected the most pennies, put on their brightest lipstick and gave the pig a big smooch. The money raised from the Kiss the Pig contest also went to the PTO as a fundraising contribution. Mrs. Crow and Mrs. Halford kept their winnings to spend on their classrooms. Way to go Stanton-Smith for an awesome fundraiser!
