HIGGINS 2ND GRADERS PARTICIPATE IN CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD

District News
On Wednesday Dec. 19 , all 2nd graders participated in “Christmas Around the World”. They traveled to 6 countries in one day where they were allowed to have their passports “stamped”. Each of them rotated between all 2nd grade classes and learned about different countries customs and traditions at Christmas time. They were excited to learn about how each one celebrated the holiday season. They went to places like England, Italy, Mexico, France, Australia and Germany. The students’ favorite country was Australia because Christmas is in the summer time in Australia and the students received a popsicle as a treat. Each student had a passport to remember their visits around the World. This was a fun and exciting day for all of them.

BROWN STUDENT COUNCIL HELPING WHITEHOUSE COMMUNITY

District News
With Cooper Clemons, Briana Brown, and Colten Wright leading the way, the Brown Elementary Student Council has been hard at work helping the Whitehouse community. “Coats for Kids” was the first program the Student Council ran. Next came the yearly canned food drive with the twist of creating a can sculpture. Members voted on a sculpture and started to sort cans by color. With all the donations, Student Council members created a can masterpiece of a high top tennis shoe complete with laces made from cornbread packages. All the Brown students and staff loved the creation! They are now helping Philadelphia Blessing with “Clean Up for Christmas”. During a time when people are focusing on things they want, others don’t have the everyday items we all take for granted. Donations of daily necessities like soap, shampoo, toilet paper, and more are pouring in along with cash donations to help those here in Whitehouse have things they need. What a great start to a wonderful year.
