BROWN ELEMENTARY FAMILY NIGHT
Brown Elementary hosted its second annual “Family Night Field Day” last Thursday. Sounds of “Spiderman”, “Walk the Dinosaur” and “Gitchee Gitchee Goo” filled the gym as the evening began with each grade level showing off cardio dances they learned in PE class this year. Fifth grade led the crowd in the wildly fun “Peanut Butter Jelly Time”. After the dancing fun, our annual family dodge ball game began. Not sure if the parents or kids won, but all had a great time! Families also enjoyed the activities from our field day including the ever popular, Tug-Of –War. Thanks to all of the families who came and supported our event.
4TH GRADE ROUNDUP AT HIGGINS ELEMENTARY
On May 17 Higgins hosted the 4th Grade annual Roundup Day. This included all the fourth graders from Whitehouse ISD. We had many people come from our community to donate a day for our young students.
There were multiple stations that the students visited on this day. We had a fire pit going where the kids branded a big “W” onto a piece of wood. We had horses to pet, archery, butter churning, a group of ladies playing dulcimers and other instruments, line dancing, story telling, square dancing, zoo entertainment, horseshoes, the bee man, picture frame making, pictures taken, game playing and roping.
As always, we could not have made this happen if we did not have many volunteers to run the stations. We want to extend a Texas sized thank you to all the many volunteers that gave us a day filled with fun. Higgins looks forward to hosting this event next year in 2014.

BROWN NEHS WIPE OUT!
During the month of March, the PATH organization located in Tyler collected toilet paper for families in need. The NEHS students at Brown Elementary organized a toilet paper drive. Their mission was to collect more toilet paper than they had the year before. The students at Brown donated MORE than 3,000 rolls of toilet paper!!! The top four classes that brought the most toilet paper got to wrap their teachers with TP at our 5th Six Weeks Celebration! We are so very thankful for all the donations and happy to have helped such a wonderful cause!
