Whitehouse FFA takes on State Fair of Texas

This program is intended to raise awareness and importance of agriculture in urban youth. Elementary schools for the DFW area file in for 5 days straight to learn about agriculture from local volunteers. The rotations include forestry, horticulture, dairy production, and animal production where they explain how our food and clothes are produced. On the first day of Farm Day, fifteen leaders of Whitehouse FFA showed their “living to serve” hearts as they worked with hundreds of students by helping explain horticulture through a song, unpacking lunches, and stuff bags for the teachers.

On Tuesday October 11th, nineteen of Whitehouse FFA Greenhand members attended Ag Awareness Day at the State Fair of Texas. Members used their agricultural knowledge to complete an Agri-quest taking members all over the fair to different locations such as the livestock barn and the Texas Hall of Fame. Members then celebrated agricultural with a concert performed by Bart Crow Band. At the end of the day the new Greenhand members were able to hear from the Texas State FFA Officer Team.
