WHS graduation ceremony contingency plan

The graduation ceremony for Whitehouse High School, Class of 2019, is planned for Friday, May 31st, 8:00 PM, Wildcat Stadium.

Gates on both the home and visitors sides will open at 6:00 PM. The stage will be on the North end of the stadium facing South, with graduates seated between the 50 yard line and the North end of the stadium, facing North. Graduates will cross the stage from East to West (Visitor to Home side) and will receive their diploma from the high school principal on the East side of the platform, then take a picture with either a school board member or superintendent on the West side of the platform. Handicap seating is available in both the home and visitors bleachers.

WISD is actively monitoring the weather to ensure proper planning and communication. If weather is a factor, the plan is to delay the ceremony until the weather passes and continue. If weather prevents a Friday night ceremony, graduation will be held Saturday, June 1st, at 9:00 AM. Saturday evening at 8:00 PM is the final opportunity to have a ceremony for our graduates.

If weather dictates a change in our original plan, WISD will communicate with parents via a callout, email, the website, Facebook, and Twitter within a reasonable amount of time prior to the ceremony.

Holloway 6th grade campus

Whitehouse ISD officials are aware of rumors about a threat specific to Holloway 6th grade campus. On Thursday, May 9th, several responsible students found an anonymous note on the hallway floor and immediately turned it into the campus principal. The note was barely legible and not deemed credible after an immediate investigation by school officials and law enforcement. However, WISD responded with additional security and administrative presence to ensure a safe and caring environment.

Superintendent, Dr. Chris Moran commented, “We will never place our students or staff in harm’s way and will always make safety our priority. We also recognize parents hear rumors, and in today’s environment, parents can become very anxious about the safety of their student. If there is ever a credible threat, we will notify parents and staff right away and take the appropriate action to protect our campuses.”

All schools are safe and secure and will follow regular schedule throughout the day. WISD encourages anyone with concerns to contact the district immediately and appreciates the partnership to keep our students safe.
