Annual Trick or Treat Trail

The WHS Student Council will host their annual Trick or Treat Trail, Tuesday, October 27, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the high school. Over 20 clubs and organizations will have games and booths set up that are appropriate for all ages. Candy and face painting are all available at no charge.

Two WHS Seniors Earn Award

Two Whitehouse High School students, Maggie M. Beard and Kendal L. Updike, have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the WHS principal to these scholastically talented WHS seniors.

Whitehouse School Board Meeting Summary September 14, 2015

Whitehouse Independent School Board members heard a presentation detailing the Texas Education Agency’s Accountability Rating System by Sonja Johnston, WISD district-wide testing coordinator and secondary math instructional consultant, during the September 14 board meeting. During the presentation, each campus principal also spoke about the achievements of their campus and outlined goals to address areas that need improvement.

WHS Senior is Named Finalist for Scholarship Program

Nathan Wilson, WHS senior, has been awarded the honor of 2016 National Merit Semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test served as the initial screen of more than 1.5 million entrants to the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. The selection index scores of students who met program participation requirements were used to designate a pool of about 16,000 semifinalists on a state allocation basis. Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors. Although semifinalist qualifying scores vary from one state to another, the scores of all semifinalists are extremely high.

WISD Students Participate in Lone Star Leadership Academy

Two Brown Elementary students participated in Education in Action’s 2015 summer Lone Star Leadership Academy camps. Caden Black and Alex Hardy were selected for the Lone Star Leadership Academy camps based on demonstrated academic success and leadership ability, an educator recommendation, and involvement in school/community activities.

Whitehouse High School Students Honored at Conference

Three Whitehouse High School students were invited to attend the Military Order of the World Wars Southwest Leadership Conference this summer.
Blair Bultman, Tommi Jo Harris and Daniel Barrera recently attended the conference held at Oklahoma Christian University. During the conference, Bultman was interviewed and was selected as a top student for the conference.
