WJHS Helps Provide Gifts for Toys for Tots

The Whitehouse Junior High School National Junior Honor Society took great strides to provide Christmas gifts for children of Smith County.

As part of their community service and charity projects, NJHS members participated in a Toys-for-Tots walk-a-thon to raise money. NJHS members received pledges based on the number of miles they walked over five afternoons.

Organization members raised approximately $5,000.

Two Whitehouse FFA Members Earn Top Awards at Area Speaking Contest

Kailey Clarke, of the Whitehouse FFA Chapter, placed first in the Sr. FFA Creed Speaking Contest at the Area VI Leadership Development Event held November 14, and will advance to the state contest to be held at Sam Houston State University December 4th.

Devyn Sorrells, of the Whitehouse FFA Chapter, placed fifth in the FFA Creed Speaking Contest at the Area VI Leadership Development Event held November 14.

Whitehouse ISD School Board Meeting Summary November 9, 2015

During the November regular school board meeting, Whitehouse Independent School Board members discussed district facilities and pre-bond planning procedures with Dr. Arnold Oates of Texas School Planning Inc. During the discussion, Oates gave general timelines for calling a bond election and outlined the steps in soliciting input from the community.

WHS Wildcat Band Earns Top Award at Marching Contest

The Wildcat Band participated in the Region 21 UIL Marching Contest Saturday evening at Stephen F. Austin University and was awarded a First Division Rating for their performance. This marks the 25th year that the band has scored the highest award.
