Kindergarten GT Nominations

Whitehouse ISD is accepting nominations for assessment of giftedness in kindergarten students who show high academic potential. Anyone can nominate a student for assessment, including parents, other relatives, guardians, and school personnel. Nomination forms can be requested from your child’s classroom teacher or counselor. Additional testing will be needed to determine the child’s educational needs. Parents must provide permission to administer ability and achievement tests and must also complete a questionnaire. All forms are due to the school counselor by Friday, January 22, 2015.

WISD Announces Interim Principal

Mr. Daniel DuPree, Superintendent of Schools, Whitehouse ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Suzanne Rice as Interim Principal for H. L. Higgins Elementary School.

She will begin serving in this position January 4, 2016. Ms. Rice has 11 years experience in education with 7 of the years being in Whitehouse ISD.

WJHS Helps Provide Gifts for Toys for Tots

The Whitehouse Junior High School National Junior Honor Society took great strides to provide Christmas gifts for children of Smith County.

As part of their community service and charity projects, NJHS members participated in a Toys-for-Tots walk-a-thon to raise money. NJHS members received pledges based on the number of miles they walked over five afternoons.

Organization members raised approximately $5,000.

Two Whitehouse FFA Members Earn Top Awards at Area Speaking Contest

Kailey Clarke, of the Whitehouse FFA Chapter, placed first in the Sr. FFA Creed Speaking Contest at the Area VI Leadership Development Event held November 14, and will advance to the state contest to be held at Sam Houston State University December 4th.

Devyn Sorrells, of the Whitehouse FFA Chapter, placed fifth in the FFA Creed Speaking Contest at the Area VI Leadership Development Event held November 14.
