Social media threat addressed

A Whitehouse Jr. High student was arrested this morning and charged with Terroristic Threat, a 3rd degree felony. The student has been suspended from school pending further school discipline.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Chris Moran commented, “Mr. Ripley and his staff are committed to providing a safe and caring environment for everyone at Whitehouse Jr. High .” The district ensured there were additional law enforcement officers on the Jr. High campus this morning to ease the concerns of parents and students.

WISD is thankful for the students who immediately reported the social media post to school officials. Moran stated, “that is how it should work. Students saw something and said something and for that, we are grateful.”

Previous Posting:

Whitehouse ISD takes all threats very seriously and is continuing to investigate the social media post that caused concern on Monday night, November 26, 2018. The public should be reassured that the district's top priority is the safety and security of students and staff. Disciplinary measures are applied to all students making threats, according to the Whitehouse ISD Student Code of Conduct once the investigation is concluded. The student will not return to campus pending an investigation and the outcome of disciplinary measures.
