Al Flanagan named to WISD Board of Trustees

Whitehouse Independent School District Board of Trustees calls a special meeting to approve the appointment of Place 2 board member, Mr. Al Flanagan.

Flanagan took the oath of office, Wednesday, August 1st, 2018. WISD Board President Greg Hood spoke on behalf of the Board saying, “The Board is very pleased to add such a quality individual to the Board of Trustees in Mr. Al Flanagan. Mr. Flanagan has been serving on the WISD Education Foundation for the past several years and has been an integral part of the foundation and it's amazing success. Mr. Flanagan has a desire to serve his community and the students of Whitehouse. He brings a background of service and leadership to the Board and we look forward to working with Mr. Flanagan and the contribution he will make to the Board and the district. Mr. Flanagan will be a great and complementary addition to the WISD Board of Trustees.”

WISD Board of Trustees calls Tax Ratification Election (TRE)

Whitehouse ISD:

The WISD Board of Trustees met Monday, July 9th on behalf of our students.

A Public Hearing was held to consider a proposed tax rate of $1.413, which is the same as the current tax rate. The public hearing involved discussion of an increase in the current Maintenance and Operations rate of $1.04 by two cents to $1.06, while at the same time, decreasing the Interest and Sinking rate of $0.373 by two cents to $0.353. This move would result in NO increase in school taxes, keeping the rate at $1.413.

What's the Portrait of a Graduate?

Since the summer of 2017, our district has been engaged in a strategic planning process aimed at providing direction and vision for our great district. This process has been a partnership of more than 100 individuals including teachers, students, community members, and district leaders. The strategic plan has one central focus, student success.

This Portrait of a Graduate contains eight attributes we as a community believe every graduating senior should possess.

High School Commencement Ceremony Saturday, June 2nd

The High School Commencement Ceremony will be this Saturday, June 2nd at 10:00 am.

Graduation practice will take place Thursday, May 31st at 1:00 in the High School Arena. Students MUST participate in graduation practice to participate in Saturday's commencement ceremony.

Seniors should be at the high school between 8:00 am - 9:15 am Saturday morning.
