Welcome

Hi, my name is Casey Franklin and I am excited to be teaching P.E. at Cain Elementary. I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2012 with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology adapted to Physical Education. This will be my 4th year teaching and 7th year in education. My passion is for teaching students to make healthy choices and feel successful when participating in a variety of activities. This will build a positive attitude towards exercise and learn healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

RAINBOW SCAVENGER HUNT

Take a picture or print out your scavenger hunt, take it on your morning/afternoon walk and find the colored items out and about then do the exercise listed. If you deiced to stick around the find the colors laying around the house and then complete the exercise.

BINGO

BINGO CHALLENGE - PRINT OFF YOUR BINGO BOARD ATTACHED. Try and make a normal BINGO. If your feeling challenged try and get a BLACKOUT. Use this board for a couple days. 
 
**If you want to change the numbers under B BUILD YOUR BODY you can or you could spread the amount out through out the day.

CHALK-OPOLY

Chalk has been super popular the past couple of weeks and I must say my family has jumped in on the fun with it too. 
 
For this CHALK-OPOLY activity all you need is chalk and a dice.
 
To begin, draw out your CHALK-OPOLY  playing board on the driveway, sidewalk, or maybe the street (if mom or dad is with you :)). Rules are super simple and played just like monopoly. You may use the exercises listed below or change them to better fit your family. 
 
Roll your dice, perform the exercise or move. Use something for your playing piece either your body or something to represent you. Your partner will then take their turn and the first player to get to the finish line wins!! 

Challenge for the Week of April 6th - 10th

This week I challenge you all to work on memorizing your parents/guardians phone number. You will do this by first writing the numbers on a note card, piece of paper,b paper plate, or whatever you have (1 number on each). Then, place the individual numbers across the room, driveway, or yard from your starting point where you will build the number. Then, you will use a locomotor skill to get across grab one number at a time and put them in order. You could add at tagger if your parents or siblings wanted join in. You could even practice your sight words and practice spelling your words. Whatever you do just have FUN!!

Dice Workout

Grab a dice and roll away for some fitness fun!! If you don't have a dice laying around the house get creative and make something. A few ideas would be to make one into a cube out of a piece of paper or just cut up some paper and write the numbers 1-6 on it. Then draw them out of a bowl one at a time to reveal your number. 

Kinder, 1st, & 2nd Grade Data Card

See if you can complete your data card! 
 
*Work on identifying the bones we have learned this year - bonus if you can identify some muscles 
*Work on your cross crawl- opposite arm to opposite knee 
*Balance - get creative draw a line with chalk and balance on it 
*Find a jump rope and practice - if you don't have a jump rope work on jumping back and forth over a line 
*Practice those locomotor skills - skipping, galloping, sliding, running, walking, etc. 

DATA CARD 3-5 GRADE

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.......remember your goals from you Data Cards. Continue working hard on all of those fitness components......
 
1 - Flexibility- Trunk Lift, Shoulder Stretch 
2 - Muscular Strength - Curl Ups/Push Ups 
3 - Muscular Endurance - Everything!! 
4 - Cardiovascular Endurance - Pacer 

2 WEEK CHALLENGE

Over the next couple of weeks check out our 2 week challenge. Grab a family member to complete each daily task with you and see how you progress over the next 2 weeks. You could do just once a day or twice a day whatever you choose, if its pretty outside get some Vitamin D and go outside for the daily task!
