GUIDANCE FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS
RECEIVING SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES
DURING AN EXTENDED SCHOOL CLOSURE

Overview:
Whitehouse ISD ensures that, to the greatest extent possible, each
student with a disability will be provided the special education and related
services identified in the student’s IEP. There is no one size fits all
guidance for providing services to each student. Services could range from
online or virtual instruction, instructional telephone calls, other curriculum
based instructional activities, or any combination of these strategies.
Campus teams will be reviewing each student’s IEP to determine the
student’s individual needs. If your student is served in resource, inclusion
or Co-Teach settings you will reach your students program through
Educational Galaxy at the elementary level and Edgenuity for secondary
students. If your student is served in Life Skills or ECSE classes you will use
the tab for more information. Once school resumes, the ARDC will
reconvene to address the impact on the student’s skills and consider
necessary next steps. The campus case manager/teacher will be the point
of contact for parents’ questions. The campus case manager/teacher will
have access to the student’s IEP team in order to collaborate on making
individualized decisions about instruction for the student. The campus
case manager/teacher will be providing activities/assignments and data
collection methods based on the student’s IEP to parents during this time.
