I grew up in the small, East Texas town of Grapeland. I spent most of my childhood in my parent's furniture store, where I learned basic business principles. My bachelors degree is from Texas A&M University. I spent 5 years working in the finance industry. While working at Beutel Goodman Capital Management in Houston, I discovered a love for teaching. The company tripled it's size by adding private investors, rather than only managing corporate investments. My position required me to help train new employees. The new employees were college students that were not majoring in finance. By creating a training manual, and working with these students, I discovered a love for teaching. My husband is Albert, and we have two sons, Steven and David. When the boys were born, I stayed home with them until the youngest started kindergarten. I earned my teaching certificate from University of Texas Tyler and have been teaching at Whitehouse High School since January 2006.
