Professional school counselors promote positive attitudes toward self, family, peers, and the community. Counselors develop confidential relationships with students and families in order to provide support through academics, career choices, emotional, and personal and social development. Counselors collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to meet the needs of each individual child. A counselor works with everyone in the school system to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
I am a graduate of Texas A&M - College Station with a Bachelor of Science. I also attended UT Tyler Graduate School with a Master of Arts and a Master Of Education. I have taught junior high math, 1st, 2nd and 4th grades and also overseas to military students at Bad Nauheim Germany. Interest in counseling led me to being a Counselor for 13 years at the elementary level and 6 years at the junior high level. This is my fourth year as a Counselor at Brown Elementary. Years ago I was at Brown and taught 2nd Grade. I enjoy interacting with students of all ages and each age group is challenging and rewarding. I am happy to be at Brown!
