Meet the Teacher                                                                                             family

Hello, my name is Misty Humphrey. This is my seventh year teaching 1st grade at Higgins Elementary. I am originally from Austin. I graduated from Texas State University with my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading. I taught 1st grade for 2 years at Dripping Springs ISD. Then I moved to Tyler with my husband, Jason. I taught 1st and 2nd grade in Tyler ISD for 9 years.

While in Tyler, we have had two children, Caedmon and Zoe. Caedmon is in 8th grade and Zoe is in 4th. I love having them on the same campus as me! Some of my hobbies are traveling, participating in 5Ks and obstacle races, watching college football and playing word games.

I am really excited about teaching and learning with you! We are going to have a great year!

Whitehouse ISD Proposed Grade Modification Plan

1st - 5th

From the time the student had access to technology and the internet:

Students who complete 70% of their assignments in Education Galaxy will earn 100 for the 4th 9-weeks.

Students who complete less than 70% of their assignments will earn a 69%.

ALL ASSIGNMENTS, PAST AND CURRENT, ARE DUE FRIDAY, MAY 22.

All assignments that have been assigned for the last three months are now open. If your child has not completed an assignment from the past three months, please make sure he/she completes them.  To see what assignments your child has not completed, click on the assignments cloud. This will show you a list of all assigned activities. If there is no grade for an assignment, he/she has not completed that assignment.  Click on the assignment, and it will give you a green triangle button that takes your child to the assignment needing to be completed.  Again, all assignments need to be completed by Friday, May 22.

Science

Special characteristics of plants - Go outside and find 5 different leaf shapes.  Trace these onto a piece of paper.  Which leaf would allow a plant to receive the most sunlight?  Which leaf is shiny on top?  This leaf would allow water to drip off easiest after rainfall.  Pull up 2 weeds and compare their roots.  Draw them in your journal.
