Tom Mensch is the Director of Bands at Whitehouse Independent School District. Formerly, he was the Minister of Instrumental Music at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. Prior to his church posting, he was Director of Bands and Trombone Professor at Tyler Junior College. During his tenure, the band program became one of the largest junior college band programs in the country with over 200 students enrolled, performing in over eleven different ensembles. Mr. Mensch served as a band director at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas and as Director of Bands at Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in Houston. Mr. Mensch has conducted numerous low brass and band clinics and has been the clinician for several region and honor bands throughout North East Texas. Mr. Mensch is the Principal Trombonist of the Longview Symphony and substitutes with the Shreveport Symphony and other orchestras in the area. He is also a trombonist with the Rose City Brass Quintet, lead trombone in the Metro Big Band, the Souled Out Jazz Orchestra and the East Texas Jazz Orchestra. Mr. Mensch earned a B.S. in Music Education from the Pennsylvania State University and an M.M. in Trombone Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is an artist for the XO line of Jupiter Band Instruments and plays Doug Elliot Mouthpieces. Tom is a member of Phi Beta Mu, T.M.E.A, I.T.A., T.B.A., N.A.M.M.B. and Phi Mu Alpha.
