I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade this year at Brown Elementary! This is my first year teaching in Whitehouse ISD; however, I am a wildcat at heart as I attended Whitehouse schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in English, and I am extremely passionate about analytical reading and descriptive writing.

My love for reading and writing comes from my obsession with WORDS. By the end of the school year, my hope is that your student will come to love and treasure words with me in their own way. I strongly believe our words hold great power - they have the ability to encourage and inspire as well as harm and destroy. My passion is to teach my students that their words matter. It is through written words that we have the opportunity to empower others as well as be empowered through the stories of our lives. We all have a voice, and we all long to be heard. Writing gives voice to our lives and forces our world to acknowledge that voice even beyond our lifetime while, in turn, reading allows us to internalize the world and the people around us through that acknowledgement of others.

I believe in the power of trusting relationships with both parents and students, so please do not ever hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your child this year as we set out for success!
