I am very excited to be teaching 4th grade writing this year at Brown Elementary! This is my second year in Whitehouse ISD and third year of teaching; however, I am a wildcat at heart as I attended Whitehouse schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in English, and I am extremely passionate about writing! Just this summer, I married my best friend, and we currently live in Tyler with our three furbabies - one French Bulldog named Phoebe and two Dachshunds named Frank and Sophie.
My love for reading and writing comes from my obsession with WORDS. By the end of the school year, my hope is that your student will come to love and treasure words with me in their own way. I strongly believe our words hold great power - they have the ability to encourage and inspire as well as harm and destroy. My passion is to teach my students that their words matter. It is through written words that we have the opportunity to empower others as well as be empowered through the stories of our lives. We all have a voice, and we all long to be heard. Writing gives voice to our lives and forces our world to acknowledge that voice even beyond our lifetime.
I believe in the power of trusting relationships with both parents and students, so please do not ever hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I prefer to communicate via email and Class Dojo. You can download the Dojo app free on your smart phone. Sign up as a parent and use the class code P42FG6JEZ in order to connect with Mrs. Saali, Ms. Phillips, and me about your child and classroom activities throughout the school year.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year as we set out for success! Above all, students first!
