Parents, thank you so much for working with your students at home. I know this is a difficult time. I can't wait to get back to school to see all of your smiling faces again! All of you have been in my thoughts and prayers.
Enjoy some Quaver fun!
To my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students:
If you would like to earn Recorder Karate belts at home I have some special plans for you! (This is completely optional.) I have acquired permission for you to use the following web site:
Select ‘for Students’, Recorder Materials and either Third, Fourth, or Fifth Grade Recorder, according to your grade level. Begin on the yellow belt and access the music and audio recording there. To find the fingerings for each note you may open the jpeg and png documents included in this web page as well as go to your Quaver account: open Student Interactives, Recorder, and Recorder Fingering Chart. Be sure to practice the sections you have trouble with 3-5 times more than the rest of the piece.
Once you feel you can play the piece well you may e-mail me a video of yourself playing it to email@example.com (use mail drop). You may also send it through FaceBook messenger, or share it with me on your school Google account. I will respond to you as well as post any student who has earned a belt every Wednesday on our “Higgins Elementary Whitehouse, tx PTO 2019-20” Facebook page.
If your recorder is lost or broken you can order one online (Amazon, for instance). You will want to get a soprano recorder with the baroque fingering. At school we use the Angel brand. Yamaha makes a good one, too.
To my 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Students: Have a ukulele or able to get one? How about an online Uke Club? If interested please contact me!
