¡Bienvenidos! Welcome! Thank you for stopping by my page. I am Rob McMichael and will be teaching Spanish 2, Honors 3, AP 4 & AP 5. I am very excited about getting to know your student. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from East Texas Baptist University. I began my teaching career in 1985 in at Navasota High School. After two years, my wife and I relocated to Palestine, Texas where I taught (and coached tennis) another 11 years at Palestine High School. In 1998 I decided to leave teaching and thought it would be a permanent decision--it wasn't; I spent 15 years as a financial advisor in Tyler, Texas. In 2013 I decided to return to teaching. I taught Spanish for four years at Jacksonville High School.
I have taught all levels of Spanish. I have made several international trips to Spain, Mexico, and Central America, as well as western Europe--I love to travel. I hope to transfer some of my travel experiences to my students--travel is a great educator and wonderful experience! I am a current member in the following professional organizations: The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), and Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA)
My wife also is a teacher and has taught choir at Whitehouse High School for the past 19 years. We have been married for 30+ years and have two grown sons.
