Meal application information

Whitehouse Independent School District has been operating the Seamless Summer Option which is a program with The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The waiver allowed schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. While no application or eligibility determination is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will resume in the 2022-2023 school year.

As such, Whitehouse Independent School District will process household applications starting Friday, April 1, 2022, to ensure student eligibility for free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year while 2022-2023 applications are being processed. The School Nutrition central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed upon request. Only registered students should apply for the free or reduced priced meals. Pre-K and Kindergarten students enrolling for the 2022-2023 school year should apply when the new meal applications become available in July 2022.

Online Meal Applications for the 2021-22 school year will be available starting Friday, April 1, 2022, by visiting: https://www.schoolcafe.com/WHITEHOUSEISD. We will not have printed meal applications available at the individual sites. We ask that parents apply online for the quickest process results. If you do not have computer capabilities or need help completing a meal application, please contact our School Nutrition Office at 903-839-5658 for assistance.

All families that qualify for free and reduced priced meals will be eligible to apply for P-EBT benefits for Spring 2022. We ask that you apply for the free or reduced meal program, prior to April 29, 2022 to get meal status information submitted to The Department of Health and Human Services. The P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer) is a benefit for families that are approved for the free and reduced meal program. Parents will be issued an EBT card (like a debit card), for the purchase of groceries for each student receiving free or reduced priced meals. More information regarding the P-EBT benefit will be provided to qualifying families when information is released by The Department of Health and Human Services. Income surveys will not qualify a student for P-EBT benefits. See the attached flyer for more information.
