It is hard to believe we are already wrapping up September, and it’s still sooo HOT! September has been another great month across Whitehouse ISD. From Homecoming and Friday night football to classroom learning, student activities, and the many moments that bring our schools together, our students and staff continue to make us proud. Thank you, families, for your continued support, involvement, and partnership. It truly takes all of us working together to make Whitehouse ISD such a special place.
As we finish the month, please remember that Wednesday, September 30, is our first Early Release Day of the school year. These days are intentionally built into our calendar to give our teachers dedicated time to plan, prepare, collaborate, and provide the best learning experiences for our students. We appreciate our families making the necessary arrangements to support these important days.
October is always a busy and exciting month in our schools. We will continue to see our students compete, perform, learn, and grow as our teachers continue the important work of helping every student succeed. As we move deeper into the school year, this is also a great time for families to check grades, talk with students about their progress, maintain strong attendance, and stay connected with teachers and their campuses.
Thank you for the many ways you support our students, staff, and schools. We are grateful to serve alongside you and proud to be part of this community. Please know that my door is always open if you ever need anything.

Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students feel connected and succeed in school. We are asking families to partner with us by making sure students arrive on time and attend every day unless they are ill or have another valid reason to be absent. Texas law requires school-aged children to attend school, and students generally must be present for at least 90 percent of the days a class is offered to receive credit or a final grade.

Keeping our students and staff safe takes preparation and a community looking out for one another. For our first Inside Whitehouse ISD feature, we spoke with Director of Safety & Security Rex Brown about the work that goes into keeping our campuses safe.
As Rex reminds us, “Safety and security is a culture and requires buy-in from all stakeholders, including students, staff, parents and the community.”
He also shares an important reminder: social media posts that could be interpreted as threats can cause alarm and have serious consequences, even when intended as a joke. Please talk with your children about reporting concerning content to a trusted adult or through our anonymous See Something, Say Something system rather than sharing it further.

It may not feel like fall outside just yet, but Fall Break is right around the corner! Students will have a holiday on Friday, October 9, for Parent Conference Day, followed by Fall Break on October 12–13.
A few other dates to keep in mind: the first nine weeks ends October 8, with report cards available in Skyward Portfolio on October 19. We’ll also have early release days on September 30 and October 28, when students will be dismissed two hours before their normal campus dismissal time.

In Whitehouse ISD, we are always looking for ways to improve and better serve our students. We are currently forming our District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC), which brings staff, parents, business leaders, and community members together to support district planning and improvement efforts.

The PSAT and SAT provide important opportunities for students preparing for college and scholarships. The PSAT gives students experience with the SAT and can qualify eligible students for scholarship opportunities, including the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Whitehouse ISD covers PSAT fees for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, and each junior or senior can take the SAT at no cost. We encourage families to help their students take advantage of these opportunities as they begin thinking about what comes after graduation.

September 15 through October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to recognize the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans with ties to Latin America and Spain. We are proud to recognize and celebrate the contributions our students and educators of Hispanic heritage make to the Whitehouse community. |
Homecoming 2026
What a great Homecoming week in Whitehouse! Our community showed up to cheer on the Wildcats as they celebrated a big win over Mount Pleasant. We also enjoyed celebrating our second annual Homecoming dance after bringing back the tradition last year.

Remembering September 11
Earlier this month, we paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger to serve others. Before our Wildcats took the field against Sulphur Springs, we were proud to recognize local first responders and thank the men and women who continue to serve and protect our community today.

SERVE in Action
Our SERVE theme continues to take shape across the district! This month, our First Ladies put service into action by picking up litter along a Whitehouse roadway as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program.
See You at the Pole
Students across Whitehouse ISD gathered before school this week for student-led See You at the Pole events. It was meaningful to see students come together and our community show up to support them.

Welcoming Back Our Retired Educators
Last week, we welcomed retired educators back to the district for our Retired Educators Brunch. Students from Ready Set Teach, Culinary, and Floral Design helped make the morning special while giving our former educators a look at some of the opportunities available to students today.

The Whitehouse High School Theatre Company takes the stage with Something Rotten! JR. on October 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Auditorium, with additional performances on October 2 and 3. We hope you’ll come out and support our talented student performers!
